Low, and Slo!
Is this what they call Slo-Core? This band from Duluth, Minnesota, sure sings slowly. And they started doing it more then ten years ago. You can somehow hear the cold winters creeping in and the Minnesota sky weighing down in their music, but mostly what comes through is something strong and persistent, melding beautiful vocals from the husband and wife based band with restrained melody lines and minimalist but warm accompaniments. Steve Albini, who's name is in the title of a Songs: Ohia's track, produced this album, and I wander if the two bands are connected in some other way. |
