Songs: Ohia
Jason Molina (alias - Songs: Ohia) has released five albums, with tracks that sound as if they come from an older man who has seen it all. Yet Molina's voice sounds young, worried, un-sure of how to navigate this harsh world. The music has an old fashioned sound, slow and warm. But the lyrics are desperate and fragile. 'I want my last look to be the moon in your eyes. I want my heart to break, if it must break, in your jaws...' he sings in 'Lioness'. And the attempt to stand up to expectations is given up in 'How to be perfect man'. If those are the songs sung in Ohio, I shudder to think what Michigan must be like... |
