A 'Singles' Artist

Bill Callahan, or 'Smog' as his band of changing companions is called, has released 11 albums full of restless storytelling, quiet rage and simple, low key beauty.

This compilation of singles, B-Sides and BBC recordings that have never been available is probably a less then ideal introduction to Smog. But it is worth it for 'I break horses' - a stark monologue by a guy who is determined to stay single, "breaking horses, not tending to them". You need to hear it to understand the savage sadness of it.
